A good book has power. It can make us laugh or cry – or make us think. It can change our minds and our lives, or even change the world.
A good library is much the same. Today’s library is more than a repository of books. Every day, thousands turn to the Library for employment and health information, research and genealogy materials, computer training, free internet access as well as a place to gather with friends and connect with their community.
Since opening its doors in 1905, the Jacksonville Public Library has been fortunate to have the support of civic-minded individuals who recognize the need for a strong library in order for a city to be prosperous. Through their generous support, our Library is free and accessible to all.
Through advocacy, fundraising and building relationships with those who share a passion for the Library’s work, the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation is the philanthropic organization founded to provide financial support that is crucial in helping to sustain the important work of the public library so it can become the thriving center of learning that is the hallmark of a great city.
