Joy G. Korman Endowment
The Joy G. Korman Endowment is a wonderful fund that benefits the library to enhance children's programming in all of the 21 library branches. Generous donations given by Mrs. Korman's family and friends started the Joy G. Korman Endowment. Mrs. Korman's love of education, children, and the library led her family to begin the endowment in honor of a significant birthday in 2015.
The endowment provides earnings for the JPL to use each year for enhancing children's programs throughout the 21 branches. There are still opportunities to give today to increase the endowment, and thereby make more funds available each year for library use. Won't you consider a gift today?
That is exactly what the unveiling event helped to do -- build our community. The family and friends of Joy G. Korman joined members of the public, library staff, and elected officials to pull the veil on a beautiful and whimsical children's mural.
The Joy G. Korman Discovery Zone mural at the Jacksonville Public Library Main Library branch was revealed on September 29, 2016. The mural was completed by three local artists – Thom Buttner, Jim Smith, and Mary Atwood – and some help from Art students at The Bolles School in recognition of the generous gifts from the friends and family of Joy Korman.
Make time to visit the mural in the Children's Department at the Main Library. There is always excellent children's programming going on at the library -- thanks in part to the Joy G. Korman Endowment!
